Birds of Prey Photographic Days

The Mid-Wales Falconry Centre near Welshpool is the venue for our Birds of Prey: Natural settings and In Flight Workshop. Privately owned, and not a location generally open to the public, and where we have been successfully running this ever extending programme for a number of years now, we will have the opportunity to photograph a selection of their stunning collection of falcons, hawks, and owls with the emphasis totally on UK and European species. New Birds during 2009 should include a Goshawk, Merlin and Short-Eared Owl - the latter copmpleting our UK breeding owl repertoire.  The setting is one of 400 acres of rolling Welsh hill farm so the opportunity to photograph Red Kites on farmgates set against rolling hill pasture, Barn Owls on old stable doors and Buzzard mantling it's next meal are amongst the treats we have in store, with the chance to test your skills capturing falcons in flight and Great Grey Owl landing as possible options later in the day. As the seasons change, so do the locations we work at, ensuring we make the most of the stunning surroundings and making this an all year round workshop which changes every time - different birds, different set-ups and changing seasons: it's why over 70% of guests have joined us again.

All in all it's a unique opportunity to have private access to photograph in a stunning setting. Group numbers are limited to 12 and the 2008/9 price of £90 for the day includes a light lunch. Ideal for the photography enthusiast after some great pictures, or the falconry fan looking for a close-up experience.
