It's been a busy few months in terms of work published as well as new ventures, new associations and new images galore - I can honestly say I've never been busier.
On the magazine front I was pleased to have a cover shot on a recent edition of Birdwatching, and will be undertaking some written and photographic ventures with them this year. On a similar note 2 recent covers on The Countryma were both related to articles i'd written on the work of the Shropshire Barn Owl Group and some tales on that iconic Christmas bird the Robin: I enjoy the combining of images and words if there's a story that might just mean someone joins up or makes a difference somewhere. I continue to do the occasional bit of travel writing too, and another article on travelling the west coast appeared in Australia & New Zealand magazine. I also had an article on photographing Puffins (one of my favourite birds) in Photography Monthly which you can read here.
I've recently been taken on by RSPB Images as one of their contributing photographers - I consider this quite an accolade, and as a teenager going on YOC (as it was called then) outings, I'd have been blown away at the prospect. Even better was the full page publication of an Oystercatcher image in the very first edition of Birds after I'd joined up. You can see the work I'm now submitting to them here.
I don't really use this latest work page or this site generally as a major showcase for all of my work - I simply don't have time - so if you are interested then the Image of the Month section of the site is the one area where I do post an image taken the previous month on an ongoing basis - there's a full selection of 2008 and 2009 up to date to be found there.
Finally, I am also pleased to have finally got a formal photographic holiday business off the ground now in the form of Natures Images. Run along with fellow pro Danny Green we run an exciting range of trips: I really enjoy sharing my enthusiasm and experiences with others, as well as getting the opportuinty to continue to capture moments in nature in the process. A relaxed style of coaching, organising and giving guests the space they want or need to make the most of the places we've taken them is what we're always looking to achieve. All the trip details are on the businesses own website www.natures-images.co.uk
