High summer is a time of year when my macro work takes an upturn with plentiful butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies proving my main focus, although the rains this year (and last) really haven't helped some species at all. That said my local population of Silver-Studded Blue's (a heathland species, and this is the only colony in the West Midlands) are really benefitting from the recent purchase of the site by Butterfly Conservation and the active development of the heather environment that is so vital for these small and dainty butterflies. I'm particularly pleased with being able to get plenty of the purple heather flowers into the background on this early morning image too.
